Lahore: PTI Founder Granted 10-Day Physical Remand

The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court has approved a 10-day physical remand for the PTI founder in connection with 12 cases related to the May 9 riots. During the hearing, the PTI founder attended via video call. The court has requested the investigation report for the next hearing.

The former Prime Minister once again called the May 9 allegations false and mentioned that a petition for an inquiry into the May 9 riots is pending in the Supreme Court. The prosecution requested a 30-day physical remand, stating that the PTI founder played a key role in the events of May 9 and further investigation is needed.

The PTI founder’s lawyer opposed the physical remand. The court, after proceedings, approved a 10-day physical remand in 12 cases. Cases have been registered at Gulberg, Shadman, and other police stations.

Reports indicate that there are over 130 pieces of evidence of the PTI founder’s involvement in the May 9 incident. According to the JIT, plans for arson and violent actions were made before the PTI founder’s arrest. During the investigation, more than 130 pieces of evidence were found, suggesting that the PTI founder incited violent protests and attacks on sensitive installations.

The PTI founder admitted that workers were to protest in the Cantonment area after his arrest. There are audio and video recordings of these statements. During the investigation of the May 9 incident, 154 suspects were identified, with local leadership inciting workers to protest.
