Chief Justice Halts Wildlife Board Changes, Questions Prime Minister’s Authority in Supreme Court Case

People elected by public votes come with a mandate, yet they are attacked afterward, turning the country into a spectacle. These remarks were made by the Chief Justice in the case regarding the removal of the Chairman of the Wildlife Board. The Chief Justice asked the Cabinet Secretary whether the Prime Minister ordered a shooting yesterday, would they obey and shoot? How are things being run like this? These bureaucrats are serving someone other than the public. This country was made for the people, not for the elite.

During the Supreme Court hearing on the removal of the Chairperson of the Wildlife Board, the Cabinet Secretary informed the court that the summary to hand over the Margalla National Park to the Ministry of Interior was not sent by him; it was directly ordered by the Prime Minister, which reached his office. The Chief Justice remarked, “Did you not tell the Prime Minister that this violates the rules? The Prime Minister does not have the authority to do anything he pleases. It is not for the bureaucrats to dictate the rules; they have taken control of the country’s system.”

The Attorney General was questioned on whether he knew how things were happening. When the Cabinet Secretary referred to the Prime Minister as “Sir,” the Chief Justice remarked, “Break the chains of slavery; the Prime Minister is not ‘Sir.’ If you say ‘Shahbaz Sharif Sir,’ it makes sense, but don’t attach the title ‘Sir’ to the Prime Minister.”

The court halted the removal of Chairperson Rana Saeed and stopped the implementation of the notification to place the Wildlife Board under the Ministry of Interior. Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan assured the court that the notification for removing the Chairperson of the Wildlife Board would also be withdrawn. The court directed that all matters regarding the Wildlife Boards be brought to the Prime Minister’s notice and adjourned the hearing until August 15.
